Transy upsets No. 14 Wabash, milestone win for Lane

Transylvania knocked off No. 14 Wabash 66-61 Wednesday in a milestone win for Pioneers coach Brian Lane.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania topped No. 14 and previously unbeaten Wabash 66-61 in the championship game of the Don Lane Classic at the Beck Center Wednesday night. The win moved Pioneers coach Brian Lane past C.M. Newton into second all-time in wins at Transy.

Lane's 177 victories are second by 332 to his father, Don Lane, who won 509 games in his career at Transy and for whom the tournament is named.

The Pioneers remain unbeaten, and at 9-0, are off to their best start since beginning the 1990-'91 win season 10-0.

Transy was led by 25 points from Brandon Rash. Ethan Spurlin had 19 points for the Pioneers.
