A behind-the-scenes look at the Kentucky basketball team's new facilities at Rupp Arena.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Rupp Arena has undergone an estimated $3.1 million in renovations, primarily to facilities for the Kentucky basketball program.
According to UK Executive Associate Athletic Director DeWayne Peevy, the team was lacking several amenities already available to the UK women's basketball team at the Joe Craft Center.
"We were just trying to catch up to the women's team," Peevy said.
For instance, Rupp Arena did not have an adequate training room for players to receive treatment. The team had to be fed fast food following games because there was not a full-service kitchen and dining area for the players.
The upgrades to Rupp Arena have taken care of those problems and more.
