It was a big night for the UK softball program as the Cats played in their first ever Women's College World Series game.

UK and Louisiana-Lafayette.

The bats were hot early for Kentucky as Lauren Cumbess, in the top of the first, doubled to the wall in center field to bring around Nikki Sagermann.  1-0 Cats.

UL-Lafayette would tie it up at 1 in the first, but Krystal Smith doubled to left and came home on a Ginny Carroll sac fly.  It was 2-1 Kentucky after two.

Cumbess, later with the solo shot...3-1 Cats.  Kentucky added on one more for good measure.

4-1 your final.  Kentucky, in its first ever WCWS game, gets the win and for the senior Cumbess...it's not that big of surprise and for good reason.

Check out the video for highlights and for Cumbess' take on why winning in OKC wasn't that big of a shock.
