Kentucky head football coach Joker Phillips on what Western Kentucky does well offensively and defensively.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips expects a physical football team to show up at Commonwealth Stadium Saturday night - Western Kentucky University.
The Hilltoppers rank 12th nationally in total defense - allowing 241 yards per game. They are also among the top ten in the country in pass defense and sacks.
In last Saturday's 35-0 loss to top-ranked Alabama, WKU totaled six sacks.
Offensively, Phillips says the Hilltoppers have become more difficult to defend than they were a season ago. WKU senior quarterback Kawaun Jakes is completing 70% of his passes to go with the 145 yards a game the Toppers' downhill running attack is averaging.
