Hicks is the state's winningest active coach and notched his 800th career victory last month. Hicks said that he believes taking his Cardinals to play in so many national tournaments over the years led him being recognized by his peers on the selection committee. Hicks said that he feels his teams have represented Kentucky well in tourneys like the Beach Ball Classic and City of Palms.

"It's an honor" to be selected, said Hicks.

University of Kentucky signee Archie Goodwin will also play in the game for the West.
