Ride on Curlin will have a three-time Derby winning jockey aboard for this Saturday's Run for the Roses in Calvin Borel.

Trainer Billy Gowan though is not as experienced to the ways of the big time.

In fact, Gowan was close to getting out of the business.

Gowan's first race winner was named Account Overdrawn back in 1988 at Louisiana Downs.  The trainer jokes he's had an overdrawn account a few times since that first win.  Just 80 victories to his name in all.

That is, until the horse of his dreams came along and quietly built the resume to keep Gowan in the game.

More in the video.
