According to ESPN, Rod Strickland will leave UK for SMU to join Larry Brown, who has agreed to become the Mustangs' new head coach.

ESPN's Jason King cites a source saying 71-year-old Larry Brown has agreed to become Southern Methodist University's next head coach. The report claims Kentucky's Rod Strickland is expected to join Brown's staff at SMU.

Strickland was an assistant coach on John Calipari's initial staff at Kentucky. Strickland then moved into an administrative role - special assistant to the head coach - following a DUI in 2010.

Doron Lamb says Strickland was a big reason why he chose to play at Kentucky. Lamb, a New York native, remembers playing in youth tournaments organized by the former Knicks point guard.
