UK football coach Joker Phillips discussed several topics Wednesday, including his current coaching staff and who'll miss spring practice.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky head football coach Joker Phillips expects to retain his current coaching staff and add one more in the coming weeks. UK quarterback Morgan Newton and linebacker Ridge Wilson will be out for spring practice, according to Phillips, who spoke with media via teleconference on Wednesday.

Phillips said he won't be reassigning his coaches to different positions and will fill the current vacancy on the staff soon.

Phillips also said that Newton will miss spring football practice all together while Wilson will hopefully be able to participate in some non-contact drills. Both will still be rehabbing from recent shoulder surgery in the spring.

Quarterback Maxwell Smith and running back Josh Clemons will both fully participate in the spring session, according to Phillips. Smith missed UK's season finale against Tennessee with a banged up shoulder while Clemons missed most of the season with a knee injury.
