Morehead State has hired former Kentucky Wildcat Sean Woods as its next head basketball coach.

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State announced Friday night that it has hired former Kentucky basketball Unforgettable Sean Woods as its new head basketball coach.

Woods will be formally introduced Monday at 2 PM at a news conference at the school.

MSU athletic director Brian Hutchinson said in a statement released by the school that Woods' energy, character, vision and professionalism were impressive.

Woods has spent the last four seasons at Mississippi Valley State. He led the Delta Devils to the NCAA tournament this past season after MVSU went 17-1 to win the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Woods was named SWAC coach of the year.
Woods is best known to Solid Blue fans for sticking it out at a probation-saddled Kentucky program and helping lead the Wildcats to an unexpected Elite Eight appearance in 1992. He's one of four UK players from that team who were named "Unforgettables" and had their jerseys retired in the Rupp Arena rafters.
