Five summers of off-season classes for Jodie Meeks.
He'll finish up his business marketing degree work this summer, but walk and participate in graduation ceremonies this weekend on campus.
The current Lakers guard never played for John Calipari...choosing to enter the NBA draft instead. A decision that looks to have worked out so far for the Solid Blue fan favorite.
But that doesn't mean Meeks didn't want to play for Cal, in fact quite the opposite.
Meeks would love to play for Cal, and when the rumor mill pointed that Cal would be the next head coach in L.A., Meeks was excited.
But he knows that won't be happening any time soon now.
This is what Meeks had to say when asked about his his relationship with Cal at today's media opportunity:
“I see him when I’m back. He always tells me that he’s happy for me and that my decision worked out. He tells me that he wishes he would have been able to coach me, but things happen. He’s happy for me and I’m happy for me. This will be his sixth year and every year he has had a team that is very talented and going a long way in the tournament. It has come a long way since the Billy Gillespie Era.”
