LEXINGTON, Ky. - Joker Phillips responded to questions regarding his future as Kentucky's head football coach on Thanksgiving morning. When Phillips was asked if he's considering resigning, he said that all he knows is what he hears from the media.

Rumors have circulated recently that Phillips could possibly resign or that UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart's hand would be forced by program boosters to replace Phillips. Barnhart was at UK football practice Thursday but was not available for comment.

As for the Wildcats' quarterback situation for Saturday's game against Tennessee, Phillips said whether or not Maxwell Smith plays will be a gametime decision. Phillips added that if Smith were unable to play, Morgan Newton would start.

Phillips was also asked if he'd allow his team to wear its black uniforms, which Kentucky has only worn once against Mississippi State on Oct. 29, for the season finale. Phillips said, "Whatever they want to do. We'll decide here."
