Kentucky sophomore point guard Ryan Harrow was expected to return to practice on Tuesday, but John Calipari said they still don't know what's behind Harrow's recent illness.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - John Calipari said on Tuesday that Ryan Harrow would be at practice. The Kentucky coach did not say whether or not his sophomore point guard would play against Morehead State on Wednesday, though.
“I guess (Harrow is doing) better, he’s at an academic meeting. He’ll be at practice today but I guess better. He’s lost weight, he’s going to have to get some weight back, we’ll see from there," Calipari said.
UK sophomore Kyle Wiltjer joked that the reason Harrow has lost seven pounds was less due his recent illness and more due to the fact Harrow has cut off the flat top he was wearing.
Speaking more seriously about his teammate, Wiltjer said, “He worked out yesterday and looked fine. I have seen him a lot the past couple of days. He seems up to speed and he’s looking forward to practicing. He’s practicing today so hopefully he can get back to full speed and get better.”
Calipari said medical staff has still not gotten to the bottom of what's been bothering Harrow. “They don’t know. All they’re saying is he has lost seven pounds and must have had something going on. They don’t know what it was but we will see.”
As for how far Harrow has fallen behind since missing the last two games plus practice, Calipari said, “He’s obviously the low man on the totem pole. You have to start from behind and that isn’t all bad for him either because now he’s going to have to fight for time. He’s behind everybody which means you have to earn it in practice.”
