LEXINGTON, Ky. - Former Kentucky Wildcat Alex Meyer pitched six strong innings in his start for the Hagerstown Suns in his return to Lexington to face the Legends. He didn't take the loss, the Suns did - 4-3 on a Zach Johnson sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth.

Meyer, a 2011 first round draft pick of the Washington Nationals, allowed three earned runs on eight hits with five strike outs to two walks in six innings pitched.

Legends starter Nick Tropeano - a two-time South Atlantic League pitcher of the week this season - allowed three earned runs on four hits with six strike outs to one walk in six and two-thirds innings pitched.

Meyer was the Southeastern Conference leader in strike outs last season at Kentucky. He turned down an offer from the Boston Red Sox out of high school to play at UK before leaving for the pros after his junior season.
