Yesterday, Solid Blue fans found out that Coach Cal had four McDonald's All-Americans headed to Lexington in this year's class.

Today, it was Mark Stoops turn to pull the biggest recruiting coupe in UK football history.

6'6", 375 pound John Hardin defensive lineman, Matt Elam, picked the Cats and Stoops over Alabama and Nick Saban.

Take out the fact that Elam is a consensus top 5 defensive lineman and ranked by many as a top 25 overall prospect, UK beat Bama head-to-head for a prized recruit and kept top talent in the state.

Something that changed for Ryan Timmons, Jason Hatcher, Drew Barker and now Elam since Stoops' arrival...

Playing with special players from the Commonwealth is definitely a big reason the big fella decided on Lexington as his home for the near future.

Hear from Elam in the video on playing with his fellow big-time, in-state buddies.
