Former EKU All-American Christian Friedrich struck out seven and picked up the win for the Rockies in his Major League Debut Wednesday.

SAN DIEGO - Former Eastern Kentucky University All-American Christian Friedrich fanned seven Friars and won his Major League debut as Colorado snapped its five-game losing streak with the 6-2 victory over San Diego Wednesday.

Friedrich left after six innings of work, allowing two runs - only one earned - on five hits and a walk.

The 24-year-old lefty's seven strike outs ties a season-high for Rockies starters.

Friedrich got off to a rocky start, giving up a pair of hits, his lone walk and a run in the first inning. He came back to strike out seven of the next 13 batters.

When Colorado selected Friedrich 25th overall in 2008, he became EKU's first ever first round draft pick.
