The UK softball team played in its first SEC Tournament title game over the weekend.

Kentucky lost 5-2 to Georgia.  It was the Bulldogs first SEC championship game win in program history.

But despite the outcome, there was good news over the weekend for the softball Cats.  They received the 14th overall national seed and will host a regional this weekend at John Cropp Stadium.

The Cats take on Ohio friday night at 7:30 after James Madison and DePaul play earlier in the afternoon.  It's double-elimination as always in the NCAA regional round.

And despite the final outcome in the SEC tourney, head coach Rachel Lawson is confident about her Cats moving forward.

Hear from Lawson in the video.
