Effort can go a long way when it comes to winning football games.

Kentucky elevated its effort level another notch against Louisville...but effort isn't scoring points right now.

Mark Stoops' staff had a solid defensive plan, but the offense failed to execute and it cost the Cats a potential upset.

Things won't get any easier moving forward and toward the SEC slate of the schedule...and with that in mind, it's frustrating not to capitalize on opponents mistakes in order to stay in the game.

The defensive unit for the Cats was so stout in fact, that it held Teddy Bridgewater and company to the Cards lowest point total of the season at 27.

It also stepped up to get the ball back for an ailing offense drive after drive and moving forward...the 'D' won't be using the offense's poor play as an excuse to give up touchdowns.

More in the video from mark Stoops, Avery Williamson and Cody Quinn.
