John Calipari defends the possibility of Kentucky ending annual rivalries with Indiana or North Carolina due to SEC expansion.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - John Calipari continues to campaign on the benefits of Kentucky ending one or more of its annual series with Indiana, Louisville or North Carolina. Calipari contends being locked into home-and-home contracts with UK's traditional rivals could put the program at risk given the uncertainty of his roster from season to season.

Calipari has been addressing the topic for nearly three weeks now. SEC expansion brings the possibility of increasing the league schedule beyond 16 games. Calipari claims Kentucky can not be locked into five to seven non-conference games if the conference schedule goes to 18 games.

Both the North Carolina and Indiana contracts expire after this season.
