John Calipari talks about the 2015 prospect who's trying to make the Dominican Republic national team, and discusses his tripleheader idea.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - John Calipari was asked on Tuesday about one of the players who's currently on Kentucky's campus trying to earn a spot on the Dominican Republic national team, which Calipari is coaching for a second straight year.

Before Calipari answered, he asked a UK spokesperson if he was allowed to talk about the player.

Calipari had to be sure because the player he was questioned about is one of the top prospects in the class of 2015, 6-foot-10 high school freshman Karl Towns.

Towns is a UK recruiting target and the NCAA prohibits college coaches from talking publicly about unsigned prospects.

An exception can be made in this case, however, since Towns is chasing a spot on the Dominican team.

Calipari said Towns is a talented player but young (16 years old), and the older players have been exploiting Towns youth.

Calipari said Towns is getting "muscled" as other guys are also vying for a spot on the national squad.
