Indiana coach Tom Crean responded Wednesday to Kentucky coach John Calipari's barb from Tuesday.
Kentucky coach John Calipari says, "Move on." Indiana coach Tom Crean says, "Let it go."
The Wildcats and Hoosiers basketball coaches had a back and forth through the media, started by Calipari's news conference on Tuesday with a rebuttal by Crean in his meeting with the media on Wednesday.
Indiana announced on May 3 that it would not be playing Kentucky in the 2012-'13 season. According to UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart, that was news to him and contradicted what he believed to be a verbal agreement between the two schools to continue the series.
Last week, a letter from IU athletics director Fred Glass to Barnhart was leaked to the media. The letter detailed Indiana's attempt to the continue the series through a compromise. IU would agree to play UK at Lucas Oil Stadium over the next two seasons so long as Kentucky agreed to a home-and-home with the Hoosiers over the following two seasons.
Barnhart responded with a statement released through the school explaining Kentucky's position.
Calipari had already made his scheduling stance known - via his website CoachCal.com
- that UK would not be agreeing to any contracts beyond two years.
Then, Glass went on a radio show explaining his position.
This week, the war of words has continued.
