California Chrome jogged this morning for the first time at Belmont.
The plan right now is to start galloping on Thursday morning.
A mile-and-a-half in the "big sandy" as horse racing folks call it.
The gallops will help gauge just how deep and different the New York track is from the previous two stops at Churchill and Pimlico.
Assistant trainer Alan Sherman says his horse is a different breed of competitor.
