Top 25 recruit for the class of 2013, Bullitt East's Derek Willis, chooses Kentucky over Louisville, Indiana and Purdue.
MT. WASHINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky coach John Calipari picked up a commitment from Bullitt East junior Derek Willlis Friday. Willis made his decision public during an announcement at his high school. Willis chose UK over offers from Louisville, Indiana and Purdue.
Willis is rated the No. 23 overall prospect for the class of 2013 by rivals.com and 33rd overall by scout.com. The 6'9" forward is averaging 17 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots per game this season. He's also proven to be a threat from three-point range.
Willis initially committed to Purdue last April, but after seeing his stock rise over the summer, he reopened his recruitment in August.
