Right-handed pitcher from Boyle County High School in Kentucky Selected to High School Showcase at Wrigley Field on August 24th
Baltimore, Md. – Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE:UA), the Baltimore, MD-based leader in sports performance apparel, footwear and accessories, today announced the addition of Micah Miniard to the roster for the 2013 Under Armour® All-America Baseball Game, powered by Baseball Factory. The game will be played at Wrigley Field on Saturday, August 24th at 1:30 p.m. CST and air live nationally on MLB Network. The Under Armour All-America Baseball Game showcases 36 of the best high school players, competing in an American vs. National team match-up. The players are selected by a committee of Baseball Factory scouts.
Micah is a tall right-handed pitcher with long limbs that help generate a downhill plane from a deceptive delivery. His fastball touches 92 mph and he compliments that pitch with a hard curve that has excellent rotation. Micah is committed to Western Kentucky.
“With his 6’7”, 200 lbs frame, Micah is looking down on hitters from the mound and uses this advantage to create a downhill plane to his pitches,” said Steve Bernhardt, Chairman of the Under Armour All-America Game Selection Committee and Executive VP of Baseball Operations at Baseball Factory. “He uses a deceptive delivery, a 92 mph fastball and a hard curveball to dominate hitters. We look forward to seeing him take the field this summer at the Under Armour All-America Game.”
The Under Armour All-America Baseball Game is the culmination of a four-day baseball celebration, including a formal workout for Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts and a homerun derby.
Over the past five years, 118 of the 138 draft eligible players from the Under Armour All-America Game were selected in the MLB Amateur Draft including 34 first round picks. Top players that went on to sign professional contracts in 2012 include Byron Buxton (2012 No.2 Overall Pick, Minnesota Twins); Kevin Gausman (2012 No.4 Overall Pick, Baltimore Orioles); Addison Russell (2012 No.11 Overall Pick, Oakland Athletics); Gavin Cecchini (2012 No.12 Overall Pick, New York Mets); Nick Travieso (2012 No.14 Overall Pick, Cincinnati Reds); Deven Marrero (2012 No.24 Overall Pick, Boston Red Sox); Styker Trahan (2012 No.26 Overall Pick, Arizona Diamondbacks); Clinton Coulter (2012 No.27 Overall Pick, Milwaukee Brewers); Lewis Brinson (2012 No.29 Overall Pick, Texas Rangers); and Ty Hensley (2012 No.30 Overall Pick, New York Yankees).
