Bat Cats Fall 10-6 To Kansas; Face Elimination

Kentucky can't hang with Jayhawks after twice tying game early.
The UK baseball team dug an early 3-0 hole with Kyle Cody on the mound before a lengthy weather delay.

But the Bat Cats fought back in the bottom of the first inning to tie things up.  A three-run homer by Ka'ai Tom with an 0-2 count brought home A.J. Reed (walked) and Max Kuhn (singled).

Again, Kentucky trailed 6-3 until the bottom of the fourth when the Cats staged another 3-run inning to square things up at 6 before a lengthy weather delay.

When play resumed, Kansas took control and hung the loss on UK's Chandler Shepherd.  10-6 the final in the opening regional round game.

It's the fourth straight time the Bat Cats have dropped a regional opener.

Kentucky will now play in an elimination game on Saturday at 1 ET.
