The Kentucky baseball team is coming off its best season in school history and looks to carry that momentum into the 2013 campaign.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky baseball team won a school-record 45 games last season, had its best finish ever in SEC play and advanced further in the NCAA tournament than it had previously in program history.
A school-record nine players from that 2012 team were selected in the Major League Baseball draft. UK lost some of its leaders, but head coach Gary Henderson expects this year's team can handle the expectations.
"Last year’s group had a pretty good chip on their shoulder. I think we’ll have the same type approach. You’re losing a couple personalities that really helped, older mature personalities, but there’s growth within the program. We have a lot of guys that are a part of that. I think we have enough personality as a club to carry the expectations,” Henderson said during UK baseball media day on Monday.
