2012 WKU Game Still On Minds of UK Players

2012 WKU Game Still On Minds of UK Players

Cats can't shake the Hilltopper blues until Saturday with chance at starting off this season with a win.
Last year's 32-31 overtime loss to Western is still very much on the minds of the players here in Lexington who were on the field for the final few moments following the game.

It sticks out and is hard to forget.

When the media asked today if Western celebrated too much following the upset on the Cats home field a season ago, the players still have a tough time giving their honest feelings.  Maybe because they can't say what they really feel.

Take Raymond Sanders for example.  Does he think the Toppers got a little too haughty on the Cats' field a year ago?  Yeah, but he won't get into that too deep (check out the video) because emotions will show on Saturday.

The football Cats are finally in game week preparation for Western Kentucky...who is now just five days out.

And while there's excitement surrounding both programs this season, it's hard to forget last year's overtime game at Commonwealth Stadium.

Using 2012's result in 2013 may or not be the strategy Solid Blue fans want to employ, but Mark Stoops says he's okay with a little fuel on the fire for motivational purposes.

As long as it's not the focal point for his team this season.

More from Stoops, Bud Dupree and Avery Williamson in the second video.
