Midnight Update: Temperatures have quickly dropped this evening from 63° in the afternoon, to now 47°. Southern Kentucky is close to 50° at the time. The line of rain which will impact central Kentucky Friday morning, has entered Kentucky and is still on time for our area.

Meteorologist Michael Estime will be tracking the rain for your morning commute starting at 5 a.m. on ABC 36 Good Morning Kentucky.

I first want to thank Meadowthorpe Elementary in Lexington for having Meteorologist Michael Estime and me out this morning to talk to some of the students about weather and severe weather safety. If you would like us to schedule a visit at your school, contact Michael or myself through email or Facebook.

Lexington reached a high of 63° Thursday afternoon! That was just 4° shy of our record for the date and 20° above our average high for the date!

A cold front will push through Kentucky early Friday morning, bringing rain showers into the region through the morning commute in some areas. Rainfall totals are expected to stay under a quarter inch of rain. We will start the day fairly mild with morning lows near 40°.

The rain will push east of the area by lunch and skies will begin to clear in the afternoon. The cooler air pushing in will limit our afternoon heating. Highs will top out in the mid 40s.

By Saturday morning, temperatures will drop into the 20s... but another warm-up is in the forecast for Sunday. Of course, it will come with more rain Sunday night into Monday morning.
