YOLO: "Stop The Violence" Weekend Event

Several Groups, including YOLO; you only live once, are hosting a two-day weekend event - all to stop the recent violence in Lexington.
It's a weekend event aimed at stopping the violence.

YOLO, or you only live once, is hosting the two-day event.

The event kicked off Friday evening with a college and career fair at Imani Baptist Church.

The fair was for everyone, including, teens, recent high school graduates, and previous criminal offenders.

On Saturday, there will be a full day of conference workshops at Imani Baptist Church, from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., which will include several speakers and testimonies.

Saturday evening, at Douglass Park there will be a unity block party at 6:30 p.m.

YOLO organizer, Phillip Garrard said it's important that all groups and organizations work together.

"We realized with our organization that we wanted to be relevant, responsible, and reachable to any community we are in. So let's do something. Let's create a platform where all these community organizations that are doing a lot of great work can showcase themselves and actually reach the community under one unified movement," said Garrard.
