I graduated from this school last year and the statements in this video could not be farther from the truth. These iPads were nothing more than classroom distractions. Students played games constantly throughout class, leading to the blocking of many web ports connected to various apps, even if they were not games. So, one day you're using your iPad correctly, and then the next day you cannot access the app you were using because of some idiot playing Angry Birds all class. Not all teachers even utilize their purposes correctly. The iPads served as an excuse for them to use an online video or teacher to educate students instead of in depth discussion. It was the worst experience I've had in the school system. Many of the "educational videos" were upwards of 30-40 minutes. There were even days we sat in class watching the videos individually! What a waste of government money (They were purchased on a grant). We couldn't simply use the projectors that were purchased for EVERY ROOM but just a few years ago. So they somehow justify spending 750,000 dollars for all these iPads and now never use the technology they still have. For disciplinary reasons, many teachers wouldn't even allow iPads to be out, unless to look at some specific video or website...But guess what? They could have simply opened the website on the projector where everyone could see it anyways. I'm an AP and 4.0 GPA student...I am BEGGING the media outlets to release more accurate information. I personally know those students and know they don't wish to throw the school under the bus, but they don't help at all. We didn't even have our textbooks on them last year. They were just extra weight. Some teachers uploaded powerpoints on them...Wow, good job! Now the student can not pay attention at all in class and just play games...It's not that hard taking notes by hand...As for college preparation, I'd LOVE to see someone try to keep up with a college lecture on an iPad keyboard...
