Women Vets Come Together

Women Vets Come Together

Women veterans gather in Lexington and learn about all the benefits available to them.
Dozens of women veterans were at the National College in Lexington Saturday morning for a meet and greet and to learn more about benefits for women veterans.

Kentucky Women's Veterans Coordinator Robin Jones says most women vets don't take advantage of many of the services offered to them, because they don't truly know what being a veteran entails.

She says many think you have to serve decades in the military or fight on the front lines in order to receive benefits, however she says no matter how long you served, if you were given an honorable discharge you can still take advantage.

Many veterans can get grants to go back to school, or even business loans to start up their own businesses. There are also networks being put together by the KDVA to help veterans find work and support systems.
