A Kentucky woman has filed for a restraining order seeking to keep a fourth-grade boy she says is a bully away from her 9-year-old daughter.
The children are classmates at Stephen Foster Traditional Academy in Louisville. Joy Furman, the girl's mother, wants to keep the boy at least 500 feet away from her daughter. Her attorney, Ted Gordon of Louisville, says the bullying began last year but claims the Jefferson County school system has refused to transfer either child.
School district spokeswoman Lauren Roberts says the complaint contains vague allegations of bullying that the district can't
substantiate. She says school officials didn't receive any specific allegations until late last week.
Roberts says the allegations will be investigated.
