Woman Shot In Franklin County, Arrest Made

The Franklin County Sheriff said a woman was shot late Thursday afternoon in a home on Manley-Leestown Road.

Sheriff Pat Melton said the victim, whose name hasn't been released yet, was airlifted to U.K. Hospital in Lexington.

Sheriff Melton said the woman who is accused of the shooting ran from the home into nearby woods when authorities arrived on the scene.  Sheriff Melton said the suspect was arrested in the woods.  Her name hasn't been released yet. 

Sheriff Melton said the suspect lived next door to the house where the shooting occurred.

Investigators have not said yet what led to the shooting.

Sheriff Melton said there were several people inside the home at the time of the shooting, including a 5-year old child.

Sheriff Melton said no one else was injured.

The shooting is still under investigation.
