Richmond police have charged a woman in a forgery case.

Police charged Rachel M. Burns, age 30, Anita Lane, in connection with passing of forged checks that were reported stolen in January 2012.

On January 17, a complainant reported to police that several of her personal checks had recently been stolen and she had learned that four had been passed at local businesses: one at Walmart in Berea, two at Walmart in Richmond, and one at a BP station on Lexington Road.

The follow-up investigation revealed that Burns and an accomplice had passed the two forged checks at the Walmart in Richmond in the amounts of $339.77 and $180.81 and had attempted to pass two others that were declined by Walmart.

On February 20th, the investigating officer charged Burns for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument (4 counts) and Theft by Deception under $500 (2 counts). The charges were served on Burns at the MCDC where she was incarcerated for similar offenses.
