The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a woman after reportedly shooting her boyfriend in the leg in Saturday morning.

Deputies said the shooting happened on White Oak Road just west of London around 9:30 a.m.

Deputies said Sharon Johnson, 49, is now in the Laurel County Detention Center.

According to deputies, said her boyfriend told her to shoot him while they were having an argument – and she did.

When deputies arrived, they said Lonnie Bowling, 47, had been shot once in the leg with a 9 mm pistol. He was airlifted to UK Med for treatment.

Deputies said Johnson appeared to be intoxicated, tried to disrupt the investigation and was reportedly interfering with EMS responders inside the home.
