The winter weather is helping crooks in Lexington.

Police said from January 1-to-February 6, thirty-four vehicles were stolen in the city.

Police said people are warming up their cars, leaving them unlocked and unattended and thieves are simply taking advantage of the crime of opportunity the owners are creating.

Police said it's not only happening outside homes and apartments, but in public places, like gas stations.

Simply put, don't leave your car running, unlocked and unattended while you 'warm it up' on these cold winter days.
