Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Central KY

Temperatures will SLOWLY rise through the evening and into tonight, but freezing rain will occur in some areas north of I-64.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas near and north of I-64.

Clouds will continue to thicken this afternoon while temperatures SLOWLY climb as moisture increases from the west and southwest.  Highs will likely be late this evening or overnight, with readings near 30 in northern Kentucky, lower 40s in central Kentucky, and near 50 in southern Kentucky.  Scattered rain showers will arrive this evening and expand in coverage into the overnight hours.  The southern and central half of the area will be warm enough for regular rain, with temperatures above freezing.  However, well to the north of I-64, some freezing rain will be possible for at least an hour or two.  An extended period of freezing rain will be possible in far northern Kentucky, causing more significant problems.  Roads, sidewalks and driveways could become slick in northern parts of the area this evening or tonight.  Scattered thunderstorms will likely develop late tonight, mainly in southern Kentucky, as a cold front crosses the area.  Colder air will return at night, near the back end of the storm system, and freezing rain will be possible a little farther south into the northern half of the Bluegrass Region late at night and into the morning.  Precipitation will end on Saturday morning, leaving us drier for the afternoon.  Sunday will be dramatically warmer, with highs in the upper 50s.  A new round of showers and thunderstorms will arrive on Sunday evening into Monday as another cold front sweeps through the area.  Tuesday will be mostly sunny with high pressure.  The third storm system will reach the Bluegrass on Wednesday into Thursday of next week, with rain showers and highs near 50 degrees.
