A strong cold front will pack a windy punch on New Year's Day.  Wind Advisories are in effect across the Bluegrass Region, and a Lake Wind Advisory (small step down from a Wind Advisory) is in effect from the eastern end of Lake Cumberland into the foothills of east-central KY.  Moisture will be limited with the front, producing only a few spotty sprinkles in the morning, and a few areas may see a brief snow flurry or two late in the day as temperatures fall from the 40s through the 30s, eventually into the 20s on Sunday night.  Snow showers will be fairly widespread across eastern Kentucky on Monday and Monday night, with a light accumulation possible, especially in the higher elevations.  The Bluegrass Region will likely see some scattered snow showers and flurries.  Tuesday will be the coldest day in this stretch, with a morning low in the mid-teens, and a high only around 25 despite partly sunny skies.  Midweek sunshine will help readings recover back closer to normal for early January on Wednesday afternoon, and dry weather will prevail as the warming trend continues on Thursday and Friday.  A late-week storm system will produce rain that may end as snow on Saturday.
