Kentucky Utility crews said strong winds caused a tree on Richmond Avenue in Lexington to fall over Thursday night.
The large tree uprooted and fell into a neighbor’s yard around 8 p.m.
Patrick Cleveland said he heard it happen, but thought it was thunder. When he looked out his upstairs window, all he saw were leaves.
“I've always seen them fall but didn't really think it would happen to me,” Cleveland said.
Cleveland’s been fixing up his deck for awhile. This may set him back a little bit, but he said he should be able to repair the damage.
Deborah Holloway said the tree has been in her backyard since she moved in nearly five years ago.
“I know this tree well,” Holloway said. “I’ve enjoyed this tree for many years.”
Holloway said her first thought was “I hope it didn’t fall on someone’s roof.”
She’s looking at the positive tonight and is thankful no one was hurt.
