A seventh case of whooping cough has been confirmed in the Anderson County School District.

The outbreak began last week when six students at Emma B. Ward Elementary School were diagnosed last week. One case has also be confirmed in a student at Saffell Elementary School. Shelia Mitchell, the school superintendent said all parents have been notified by letter of the outbreak.

The health department is now offering whooping cough vaccinations for $5. Mitchell said thorough cleanings will continue to be done at both schools during Thanksgiving break.
