Emergency Management crews in Laurel County said a fire broke out at Robinson Stave Company at around 4:30 Wednesday morning, causing significant damage to the building.

When officials got to the location just off of Highway 3434, they said roughly half of the building was on fire.

Witnesses told investigators they heard an explosion, but an official cause has yet to be determined.

The Robinson Stave Company, which makes whiskey barrels, employs around 50 people.
