Wet-Dry Petition Returns to Berea

A group of residents in Berea are trying to gather enough signatures to hold a special election over whether businesses should be able to sell alcohol.
A petition is going around Berea to bring alcohol sales to town.

This is the fourth time there's been a push for businesses to be allowed to sell alcohol in town.

In the previous three attempts, enough signatures were gathered for a special vote to be called, but each time the ban on alcohol in town was upheld.

Supporters of the petition say they're more confident this time that the vote will go a different direction.

Twenty-five percent of the registered population of Berea must sign the petition before it can be submitted to the Madison County Fiscal Court, who will then decide if and when to hold a special election.
