Weekly Traffic Report March 30th-April 5th

LEXINGTON, Ky. - On Friday, April 5th, the state will close sections of Georgetown Street and Fourth Street   for 30 days for continued construction of the Newtown Pike BCTC campus project. The closure will affect:

· Georgetown Street from Booker Street to Newtown Pike

· Fourth Street from Henry Street to Newtown Pike.

Traffic on Georgetown Street can follow a signed detour that follows Georgetown Road to New Circle Road to Newtown Pike.  Traffic on Fourth Street can use Jefferson Street to Main Street to Newtown Pike. 

Motorists should be aware of the Run the Bluegrass foot race underway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. near Keeneland on Saturday, March 30th.  Roads that will be closed for the event include Rice Road, Bosworth, Elkchester Road, Red Road, Old Frankfort Pike and Van Meter Road. 

Traffic could be congested near Fifth-Third Pavilion at Cheapside Park for Central Bank Thursday Night Live, which will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4th. 

Traffic could be congested on Versailles Road and Man O’ War Boulevard this weekend as Keeneland opens its spring meet.  Racing starts on Friday, April 5th and continues through April 26th, with no racing on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Gates open at 11 a.m. and post time is 1 p.m.

Traffic could be congested near Jacobson Park on Richmond Road from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, April 6th, for the annual Kite Fest.

Downtown traffic could be congested Thursday, April 4th, through Saturday, April 7th, due to the Central Kentucky Home & Garden Show at Rupp Arena.  Motorist should use caution and watch for pedestrian traffic on the streets around the arena.

MAJOR IMPACT

Georgetown Street will be closed 24 hours a day between Newtown Pike and Booker Street from Friday, April 5th, through Wednesday, May 1st, to rebuild the Georgetown Road intersection.

SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC IMPACT

The left lane of North Limestone Street will be blocked between West Second Street and Church Street from Tuesday, April 2nd, through Friday, April 5th, to install new utility poles.

West Fourth Street will be CLOSED 24 hours a day between Henry Street and Newtown Pike from Thursday, April 4th, through Wednesday, May 1st, to rebuild the Georgetown Street intersection.

The left lane of the inner loop of Man O’ War Boulevard will be blocked between Clays Mill Road and Grassy Creek Drive from Monday, April 1st, through Friday, April 5th, for maintenance work. 

The eastbound lane of Liberty Road will be blocked at Lakeview Drive on Thursday, April 4th, and Friday, April 5th, for utility work.

The eastbound lane of Liberty Road will be blocked at Woodward Lane from Monday, April 1st, through Wednesday, April 3rd, for utility work.

The right lane of the outer loop of Man O’ War Boulevard will be blocked between Rapid Run Drive and Mt. McKinley Way through Friday, April 5th, for sidewalk replacement. 

The inbound right lane and sidewalk of Versailles Road will be blocked between Alexandria Drive and Village Drive from Monday, April 1st, through Wednesday, April 3rd, for sewer work.

The westbound lane of East Second Street will be blocked at North Martin Luther King Boulevard on Thursday, April 4th, and Friday, April 5th, for utility work.

The southbound lane of North Martin Luther King Boulevard will be blocked at East Second Street on Thursday, April 4th, and Friday, April 5th, for utility work.

The eastbound curb lane of Richmond Road will be blocked at Lakeshore Drive on Tuesday, April 2nd, and Wednesday, April 3rd, for utility work.

The right lane of South Limestone Street will be blocked between State Street and University Avenue at the University of Kentucky Hospital on Monday, April 1st, and Tuesday, April 2nd, for utility work.

DeRoode Street will be CLOSED between Versailles Road and McKinley Street 24 hours a day through December 31st, for work on the Newtown Pike extension project.  Motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley.

MODERATE TRAFFIC IMPACT

The eastbound lane of Columbia Avenue will be blocked at Rose Street from Tuesday, April 2nd, through Friday, April 5th, for utility work.

Dunkirk Drive will be CLOSED to all but local traffic between Sutton Place and Mandalay Road from Monday, April 1st, through Friday, April 5th, for sewer work.

One lane of East Seventh Street will be blocked at North Limestone Street from Monday, April 1st, through Friday, April 5th, for utility work.

One lane of Courtney Avenue will be blocked at Emery Court through Monday, April 1st, for utility work.
