Arctic Air Stays In The Forecast

Temperatures fall into the single digits overnight into early Wednesday, with high temperatures in the teens Wednesday afternoon.
Midnight Update:  Snow showers have tapered off for just about all of the viewing area, with some flurries lingering across Southeastern Kentucky.  Skies will continue to clear overnight, allowing for mostly sunny skies for your Wednesday morning.  Temperatures are in the single digits for many locations, with overnight low temperatures around 2 degrees.  Wind chills at times will be around -10 degrees overnight into early Wednesday.  Clouds will increase late Wednesday, with the chance for some flurries Wednesday night into early Thursday.  Cold air continues for the rest of the week, with morning low temperatures in the single digits and afternoon highs in the mid to upper teens Thursday and Friday.  Snow showers will be possible again on Saturday, with high temperatures around 33 degrees.  Temperatures remain in the upper 20s for Sunday with another round of light snow showers possible by late in the day.  The arctic air continues to be felt across the Bluegrass even into next week, with temperatures in the upper teens to lower 20s.

Snowfall reports from around the region, ranged from 1" to 4" on average in Central Kentucky, with 2"-5" for Eastern Kentucky.  Snow showers will taper off tonight, with temperatures falling into the single digits, and wind chills around -10 degrees.  With cold temperatures, the concern for icy spots on roads will continue.  Cold temperatures continue for the extended forecast with more snow chances.

TONIGHT:  High pressure will build into the region tonight, with snow ending and skies clearing.  Overnight low temperatures will fall to around 2 degrees, with wind chills around -10 degrees!

WEDNESDAY:  We will start off the day with sunshine, yet clouds will develop through the afternoon, as high temperatures only reach 18 degrees.  Another weather disturbance will approach and move through the region late Wednesday into early Thursday, with flurries to light snow showers possible.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Light snow showers will develop mainly for Eastern Kentucky, with overnight low temperatures around 8 degrees.

THURSDAY:  Mostly cloudy skies will continue for early Thursday, with flurries possible, and afternoon high temperatures only reaching 15 degrees.

FRIDAY:  Our coldest morning, will be Friday morning, with low temperatures around 1 degrees.  Friday will feature mostly to partly sunny skies and a high of 19 degrees.

WEEKEND:  Temperatures return to the lower 30s on Saturday, with light snow showers possible through the day.  Sunday will feature increasing clouds through the day, with another round of late day snow showers possible.  Sunday high temperatures will be around 28 degrees.

NEXT WEEK:  Temperatures continue to stay well below normal, with highs in the upper teens to lower 20s beginning next week.
