Snow Showers & Windy For Saturday

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Saturday, with accumulating snowfall and gusty winds up to 30 mph. Snowfall accumulations from 1" to 4" will be possible across the viewing area.
Early Weekend Update:  Snow showers will continue to move through from northwest to southeast through Kentucky, with heavier snow bands during your morning hours.  Snow will linger into your Saturday afternoon, yet taper off by the late afternoon and evening hours.  Gusty winds will be around 30 to 35 mph, which will create blowing snow and reduce visibilites.  Temperatures will top out around 27 degrees for your Saturday, and fall into the single digits by Sunday morning.  With temperatures well-below the freezing mark Sunday morning, slick spots will continue to be a concern on the roads.  However, Sunday afternoon will be a little milder with a high around 35 degrees.  Another cold front moves through Sunday night into early Monday, bringing another chance for a light dusting for Monday morning, with cold, arctic air moving back in.  Monday high temperatures will be around 18 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies.  Tuesday will be our coldest day next week, with a high of only 8 degrees!  A slight warming trend returns by the end of the week.  
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Saturday for all of the viewing area, with snowfall accumulations between 1” to 4”, with higher amounts along and north of I-64, and lighter amounts closer to the Lake Cumberland area. Winds will also gust up to 30 mph on Saturday, creating blowing snow, which will reduce visibilities.

TONIGHT: Snow showers will begin from northwest to southeast across Kentucky between 2am to 5am. Snow will become steadier and heavier around daybreak, and continue through your Saturday morning. Overnight low temperatures will be around 17 degrees, which will be reached early, with temperatures getting into the lower 20s by daybreak Saturday.

SATURDAY: Snow showers will continue through your Saturday morning and taper off between 4pm to 9pm, from northwest to southeast. Saturday afternoon high temperatures will be around 27 degrees. Snowfall accumulations will range from 2” to 4” for the Bluegrass and Eastern Kentucky, with 1” to 3” for Southern Kentucky.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Flurries will be possible Saturday night, with clearing skies into early Sunday morning. Sunday morning low temperatures will be around 6 degrees.

SUNDAY: Temperatures may get a little milder on Sunday, ahead of another cold front that will move through Sunday night into Monday. Sunday afternoon high temperatures will be around 35 degrees. Another cold front will approach and move through Sunday night into Monday, with a wintry mix to light snow developing once again.

NEXT WEEK: Arctic air continues to move into the region for early next week, with highs in the upper teens on Monday, and around 8 degrees for Tuesday. Conditions look to remain dry for midweek next week, with mostly sunny skies on Wednesday and a high of 15 degrees. Temperatures get back into the upper 20s by Thursday and lower 30s by Friday.
