Rain Chances Tonight, With Much Cooler Air Ahead

A strong cold front will move through Kentucky early Tuesday, bringing rain and thunderstorm chances into early Tuesday, and much cooler air for the rest of the work week.
Midnight Update:  A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 3am Tuesday for Clay, McCreary, Knox, Whitley, Pulaski, and Laurel counties.  A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 11am Tuesday for Southeast Kentucky.  Rain showers and thunderstorms will mainly be confined to Southern and Southeast Kentucky through early Tuesday.  Clouds and rain should decrease through the day Tuesday, with more sunshine expected across the Bluegrass region.  Tuesday afternoon high temperatures will be around 77 degrees.  Cool temperatures will continue for the rest of the work week, with highs in the mid 70s on Wednesday, and upper 70s for Thursday and Friday.  Wednesday and Thursday morning low temperatures will start the day off cool, with lows around 55 degrees.

A strong cold front will move through Kentucky by early Tuesday, keeping the chance for rain and thunderstorms in the forecast for tonight and early Tuesday.  The cold front will bring cool, Canadian air which will keep temperatures below normal for the rest of the work week.

TONIGHT:  Skies will be mostly cloudy tonight, with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, and overnight low temperatures around 65 degrees.

TUESDAY:  Skies will be mostly cloudy for the morning hours of Tuesday, with isolated rain showers possible, mainly east of I-75.  Rain will diminish through Tuesday afternoon, with clearing skies.  Temperatures will be cooler Tuesday afternoon, as Canadian air returns to the region, and high temperatures only reach 77 degrees.

TUESDAY NIGHT:  We will have mostly clear skies and cool conditions for Tuesday night, with overnight low temperatures around 54 degrees.

WEDNESDAY:  We will continue to have unseasonably cool temperatures for Wednesday, with afternoon high temperatures around 75 degrees.  Skies will be partly sunny for Wednesday.

THURSDAY:  Mostly sunny skies will be around for Thursday, with high temperatures around 78 degrees.

FRIDAY:  Skies will be partly cloudy with a few rain showers and thunderstorms possible, and afternoon high temperatures around 79 degrees.

WEEKEND:  Temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s for Saturday and Sunday, with partly sunny skies and a few rain showers and thunderstorms.

EARLY NEXT WEEK:  Temperatures get back into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees for early next week, with partly cloudy skies.
