Midnight Update: The Tornado Watch from Wednesday afternoon has been cancelled, yet a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect into Thursday. Even though the threat for severe thunderstorms has diminished, heavy rainfall will continue to move through Central and Eastern Kentucky causing localized flooding. Much cooler air also returns, with Thursday morning low temperatures around 55 degrees. Rain will mainly be east of I-75 Thursday morning, with rain diminishing through the afternoon hours. Thursday will be a cool day, with a high of only 62 degrees. The chance for scattered rain showers will return Thursday night into Friday, with Friday high temperatures only reaching 60 degrees. A few isolated rain showers will be possible Saturday, with more sunshine expected Sunday into next week. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s this weekend, with 70s returning for early next week.
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 8pm this evening, and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Thursday morning, with 2” to 4” of rain, and locally higher amounts possible. Much cooler temperatures return Thursday through the weekend, so have a jacket along with the rain gear for the end of the work week.
TONIGHT: Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue tonight, with heavy rainfall at times. Isolated tornadoes, gusty winds in excess of 70 mph, large hail, and localized flooding will be possible. Overnight low temperatures will fall to around 55 degrees, making for a cool start to your Thursday.
THURSDAY: Rain chances will linger into Thursday, with rain diminishing in coverage through the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will be about 20 degrees cooler than where we’ve been for the start of the week, with high temperatures around 62 degrees. Have an umbrella and jacket with you for Thursday.
THURSDAY NIGHT: An isolated rain shower will be possible Thursday night into Friday morning, with mostly cloudy skies, and an overnight low temperature of 41 degrees.
FRIDAY: A few lingering rain showers will be possible for Friday, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of only 60 degrees.
WEEKEND: Temperatures remain cooler for the weekend, with mid 60s, under partly to mostly cloudy skies. There will be a chance for a few rain showers on Saturday, with more sunshine expected for Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: Drier conditions return for early next week, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
