Strong Thunderstorms Possible Tonight Through Tuesday

Midnight Update:  Another round of showers and storms is moving northeast into Kentucky from Tennessee. Expect more moderate to heavy rainfall at times along with lightning. These storms will likely stay below severe levels, but could create flash flooding in some areas. If you come across a flooded roadway, remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Most cities have fallen into the mid 60s with Lexington at 64° as of midnight.

Meteorologist Michael Estime will have the latest on the potential for more strong storms Tuesday starting at 5 a.m. on Good Morning Kentucky.

Forecast: We will have a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms in the region through early tonight, with another round of strong thunderstorms possible late Tuesday. Temperatures will cool through the week, with the chance for more rain, yet rain coverage becomes more isolated. The biggest threats with any severe thunderstorms will be gusty winds, heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, large hail, and an isolated tornado.

TONIGHT: Rain showers and thunderstorms will be scattered this evening and overnight, with overnight low temperatures around 60 degrees. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible tonight.

TUESDAY: There will be a chance for another round of rain showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, yet there looks to be a break in the rain and clouds around midday. The more breaks in the clouds, the better chance for stronger thunderstorms later in the day Tuesday, as a cold front approaches from the west. Tuesday will be a warm day, with a high of 78 degrees.

TUESDAY NIGHT: A cold front will approach and move through the region, giving us the chance for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Overnight low temperatures will fall to around 55 degrees by Wednesday morning.

WEDNESDAY: Lingering rain showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday, with a high of 69 degrees.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY: Cooler temperatures return for the end of the work week, with a high of only 59 degrees Thursday afternoon, and a high of 60 degrees Friday. There will be a chance for widely scattered to isolated rain showers on Thursday and Friday, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

WEEKEND: Cool temperatures continue for the weekend, with a high of 63 degrees on Saturday, and a high of 68 degrees on Sunday. There will be a chance for an isolated rain shower each day.
