Rain Chances Stay In The Forecast

Midnight Update:  Scattered rain showers will continue to linger for the next two hours, and then diminish as we get closer to daybreak Tuesday.  Patchy fog will be possible for the early morning commute Tuesday, especially for areas that have received decent rainfall today.  Lexington picked up 1.05" of rainfall between 6pm and 11pm this evening, and have picked up 2.61" of rain in the past 48 hours.

We will continue to have the chance for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms through the week, as a slow moving low pressure system lingers over the region through midweek, followed by an approaching cold front for the end of the week. Temperatures will remain mild, with highs generally 70 to 75 degrees, and low temperatures in the 50s. Cooler temperatures return by the end of the weekend.

Tonight: We will continue to have the chance for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with some storms possibly containing gusty winds, hail, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning. Skies will generally be mostly cloudy, with overnight low temperatures around 51 degrees.

Tuesday: A slow moving low pressure system over the Tennessee Valley will move into the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday, continuing to give Kentucky mostly cloudy skies and the chance for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Tuesday afternoon high temperatures will be around 69 degrees.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy skies will continue with the chance for a few showers, with overnight low temperatures around 53 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday: Partly sunny skies will be around with highs around 72 for Wednesday and 75 degrees for Thursday. There will be a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms, mainly late in the day.

Friday: A cold front will approach from the west giving us the chance for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Some thunderstorms may contain gusty winds. Friday afternoon high temperatures will be around 74 degrees.

Weekend: Lingering rain showers will be possible for Saturday, with highs in the lower 70s. More sunshine returns for Sunday, with highs around 63 degrees.
