Staying Cold Tonight, Yet Seasonal Temperatures Ahead

Midnight Update: 
A layer of clouds has been building in tonight, and is expected to linger into the early morning hours of Wednesday, with morning low temperatures in the teens.  However, skies are expected to be mostly sunny through the day Wednesday, with high temperatures around 40 degrees.  High temperatures get back into the mid 40s for Thursday, with highs in the lower 50s for Friday and Saturday.
This week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Kentucky. At 10:07am Wednesday, March 5th, a tornado emergency test will take place on NOAA Weather Radios and the Emergency Alert System, as well as tornado drills for schools.

Our weather will remain quiet for the remainder of the week, with a gradual warming trend as we approach your weekend, with more seasonal high temperatures.

TONIGHT: We will have mostly clear skies overnight, with low temperatures around 16 degrees by Wednesday morning. Winds will be light tonight, yet wind chills may be in the single digits at times.

WEDNESDAY: Temperatures will start off in the teens Wednesday morning, with a Wednesday afternoon high temperature of 40 degrees. Skies will generally stay mostly to partly sunny.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Skies will be partly cloudy Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with overnight low temperatures around 24 degrees.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy skies will develop for your Thursday, with a slight chance for a few spotty rain showers by late in the day. Thursday afternoon high temperatures will be around 45 degrees.

FRIDAY: Temperatures will be back to more seasonal highs, with a high of 53 degrees Friday afternoon, under partly sunny skies. A weather system will pass to our south and southeast Friday into the weekend, yet only a few spotty rain showers will be possible at this time.

WEEKEND: We will have a seasonal high temperature of 51 degrees Saturday afternoon, with increasing clouds through the day. A cold front will approach and move through Kentucky late Saturday into early Sunday, bringing a chance for a few rain showers Saturday evening, with a little wintry mix possible into early Sunday. Sunday morning low temperatures will be around 29 degrees, with a high of 45 degrees Sunday afternoon. Don’t forget to turn your clocks AHEAD one hour Saturday night, as we go back to Daylight Saving Time officially at 2am Sunday, March 9th. Sunset will be closer to 7:39 pm beginning on Sunday.
