Warmer and windy conditions will return for the end of the work week, with rain chances possible this weekend. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Eastern Kentucky through the day Friday, due to the expected gusty winds and dry air, which could cause any outdoor fire to quickly get out of control.

TONIGHT: We will continue to have clear skies overnight, with low temperatures around 33 degrees. Low temperatures will be reached around midnight, with temperatures becoming steady or slightly rising toward daybreak, as warmer air returns to the region.

FRIDAY: Southwest winds will increase through the day, with gusts up to 40 mph possible. The southwesterly winds will bring in warmer air, and help Friday afternoon high temperatures reach 60 degrees. Skies will start off mostly sunny, with partly sunny skies into the afternoon.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Clouds will increase Friday evening with a few rain showers possible overnight Friday into Saturday, as a weak cold front moves through Kentucky. Overnight low temperatures will only fall to 40 degrees.

WEEKEND: Temperatures will be around 57 degrees for Saturday, with partly sunny skies and the chance for a few isolated rain showers. Sunday will be colder, with a high of 43 degrees, and the chance for rain and a wintry mix. Rain and wintry mix chances will increase for Sunday afternoon and night.

NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will be in the lower 40s for St. Patrick’s Day Monday, with the chance for a little wintry mix early in the day. Seasonal temperatures return by next Tuesday, with highs around 54 degrees. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 40s and 50s through the rest of next week.
